Preparing For Your Inspection

We understand that preparing for a home inspection can seem like a daunting task or maybe you aren’t sure where to start. Over the course of our inspections we’ve gathered some tips that make preparing for your inspection as convenient as possible for you and your family.  For a comprehensive list or pre-inspection suggested maintenance items, please visit one of the links provided below.

  • Please confirm all utilities are on (water, power, and gas)

  • Plan to leave your home roughly 30 minutes early and be away from the home for a minimum of 3 hrs.

  • Ensure your pets are safe and comfortable. We understand this might be difficult for them.

  • Please check all closet and attic access points (attic or crawlspace) and remove any items obstructing access so our inspector can access the area easily.

  • Please leave remotes for the garage door(s), any ceiling fans, lights, etc. in a central location (usually the kitchen counter)

  • Please provide access to all locked gates, outbuildings, and electrical boxes.

  • You will need to ensure any pilot lights for gas-fired appliances, including the water heater are turned on.

  • If you have a well or septic tank, we ask that you please leave directions as to the location of either the well or tank to help expedite the inspection.
